QA Technician

1st shift

$12 an hour

Summary/Objective: Assures consistent quality of raw materials and finished product, while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to VEI’s policies and procedures. Maintain Stability Program, ensure client pre-shipment samples, review raw material folders, and track all manufactured retained samples.

Essential Functions

  • Client Pre-Shipment Samples – Ship samples to customers as per sample testing setup in ERP and per client/customer service request. Some customers will require samples in an urgent matter (before shipment of order) as release criteria.
  • Responsible for Stability program - Collect samples, log samples in calendar and sample sheet (Excel & hard copy), and organoleptic test finished product (first lots), and process for in-house and 3rd party lab testing, and data collection to determine if results are passing and if further testing is needed, for the completion of the study. Also, maintenance pertaining to any equipment involving stability such as: recording daily stability chamber temp/Rh, downloading monthly temp/Rh data from the USB loggers, and oversee annual and as needed maintenance on the two chambers.
  • V folders – Collect, review, scan and save appropriate documents that pertain to raw materials on the public server.
  • Finished Product Retained Samples – Per FDA regulations, collect retains, log the samples and store all manufactured product, for any necessary testing, investigation or request. Maintain retain sample racks/rooms in an organized fashion and clean out monthly product that is one year past expiration dating.
  • Non-Essential functions

  • QC Sensory/Tasting - One week a month, as needed, all blending samples are tasted by designated taste teams, where they mix, taste and log all samples necessary for line production work approval or if a sensory problem is noted.

  • Work Environment

    This job operates in an office and lab environment. This role routinely uses lab equipment and standard office equipment such as, calculators, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This job will frequently work on a computer.

    Expression of a level to communicate verbally with employees, customers and others in English and to obtain and provide basic information. Able to communicate by telephone. Capable of explaining routine policies and of properly referring more complex cases.

    Comprehension and expression of a level to routinely draft narrative information, compose routine correspondence on own initiative, make comprehensive notes in English. May involve a large volume of such composition.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Employee will occasionally lift/carry up to 50 lbs. Employee will frequently lift/carry up to 44 lbs., use peripheral vision and depth perception, push, and reach over the shoulder, stand, bend and climb/use a ladder. Employee will continuously use fingers for grasping, use both hands, sit for extended periods of time, use well developed coordination simultaneously, read with attention to detail, seeing activities near and far, be able to distinguish basic colors and shades of colors, smell, use routine hearing ability.
